What tis it you say, GuvNah?

British slang—one of respect—from our folks across the pond.  

The world of Sport holds the same respect. Governor. The Central Governor…or The Brain! 

Athletes train their brains alongside their bodies. To build strength and endurance physically means building discernment and wisdom mentally! As author/coach Matt Fitzgerald expresses in his book, Brain Training for Runners: “Train the Brain and the rest will follow.”

As I ran, the life application was inescapable. My thoughts matter. They can lead me to attitudes, often impacting my behavior. To train my running brain meant respecting my thoughts but it also required developing a healthy authority over them too. It was a critical theme in my 12th mile journey…on and off the racecourse!

God agrees.  In the book of Philippians God says through the apostle Paul: 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8
